Built in 1960, the Lodge is one of the most established resorts in The Bahamas, offering twenty-one rooms in one-and two-bedroom beachfront cottages for couples, families and solo travelers. Located directly on one of their two beaches, each cottage is built of native wood and coral rock, with a décor of locally made furniture and colourful Androsia batik fabrics. Small Hope was the first dive resort in the Bahamas and is still run by the same family. By the time you leave you will feel like part of their extended family. Dive masters take guests out for three dives per day (one snorkel boat also goes out daily - weather permitting). The dock and dive shop are located right on property. Guests can also explore the environment on self-guided nature walks, offshore snorkeling sites, kayaking, biking, windsurfing, and boat safaris up inland waterways. If you see one do not let them see you, because they will automatically make you dizzy, and you will never find your way out of the pine forest. The Bridge Inn provides a secluded, warm and friendly atmosphere, and is a perfect setting for a nature-lover's vacation. Its unique architecture, featuring interior and exterior walls patterned from local limestone rock, and a landscape dotted with conch shells, palm trees and native flowering plants, pays a compliment to the surrounding environment. This theme is also reflected in the native straw items, flowers and shells decorating the rooms and public areas.

This family-owned and operated property, named for a small bridge that spans the nearby bone fish flats, has been a local fixture for almost 30 years. It has 12 regular rooms in the property's original low-rise building, each with one queen bed, one twin bed and a shower. There are three newly-constructed, two-storey buildings, named Shad, Mullet and Bonefish in honour of the residents of the flats. Each has two 2-bedroom apartments, an upper and a lower unit, both with private entrances. The units are spacious, with a full kitchen (including coffee-maker and microwave), a dining area, 2 queen-size beds and 1½ baths. Onsite laundry facilities are free to guests.

The restaurant at the inn serves Bahamian and American cuisine and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7:30 a.m. until. Entertainment is provided in the lounge at Bridge Inn on Friday and Saturday nights by Fealy & the Boneshakers, a local "rake and scrape" band, plus there is disco music for dancing. There is also a large pool table where you can test you skill at the game.

Arrangements can be made for bone fishing with a local guide; deep-drop fishing for red snapper, black snapper and Nassau grouper; trawling, or sports fishing, for blue marlin, Wahoo and mahi mahi; scuba diving with one of the local dive operators; tours to nearby attractions like the Hermitage, the bat caves and the Col. Andrew Deveaux Plantation; and an escort for nighttime crabbing, where you can catch land crabs, a staple of the local diet. If you like to explore on your own, rental cars are available on premises at $70 per day and $65 per day for more than three days; bicycles are free to guests.

For those seeking more quiet pursuits, there is a secluded mile-long beach, just a short walk away, with a shallow lagoon perfect for sunbathing, swimming or snoozing and there are great reefs for snorkeling off the beach. (Snorkeling gear is not provided.) The pathway to the beach is overhung by a canopy of Casuarinas, providing a perfect "nature trail" for your daily walks.

A place such as Lochabar Beach Lodge is hard to find and even harder to leave. We offer: wedding planning, air-conditioned rooms, bonefishing, snorkeling, beachcombing, blue water fishing, tarpon fishing, guides, relaxation, diving, cave exploration, sunbathing and swimming.
The lodge is a small and private three unit guest house situated directly on the beach 2 miles south of Clarence Town (about 5 minutes drive). The lodge consists of two downstairs units and one upstairs apartment. The lodge also overlooks one of the island's two "blue holes". The downstairs unit is a one-bedroom apartment with a complete kitchen, living room, king-sized bedroom and a full bath. This unit rents for $150.00 nightly or $1000.00 weekly.
All rates are for two person occupancy and there is also a 10% room tax. A deposit is required for all reservations and we do accept credit cards. There is a 4% charge on all credit card transactions.
